Abstract
This study aims to determine the effect of character building in the spirit of nationalism on enhancing the nationalistic attitudes of twelfth-grade students at Kemala Bhayangkari Private Senior High School Rantauprapat. An associative quantitative approach was employed using simple linear regression analysis. The sample consisted of 60 students selected through a purposive sampling technique from a total population of 120 students. Data were collected using a validated and reliable Likert-scale questionnaire. The results revealed that character building in the spirit of nationalism has a positive and significant effect on students' nationalistic attitudes. The relationship between the two variables is categorized as strong, with character building contributing 63.9% to the variation in students' nationalistic attitudes, while the remaining 36.1% is influenced by other external factors. Stronger implementation of national spirit character development at school leads to a higher level of students' nationalistic attitudes. Therefore, teachers and school administrators are recommended to consistently integrate national values into classroom instruction, extracurricular activities, and overall school culture.
