Post-Publication Discussion Policy
Economic: Journal Economic and Business (EJEB) recognizes post-publication scholarly discussion as an important component of academic communication, research transparency, and the continuous evaluation of published scientific knowledge.
The journal encourages constructive, evidence-based discussion of published articles and provides opportunities for readers, researchers, authors, and other interested parties to raise academic questions, offer critical perspectives, and identify matters requiring clarification.
This policy is informed by the principles of responsible scholarly communication and the publication ethics guidance of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
1. Purpose and Scope
Post-publication discussion aims to promote academic dialogue, encourage critical evaluation of published research, and support the accuracy and integrity of the scholarly record.
Discussion may address research methodology, data interpretation, theoretical arguments, research findings, scholarly implications, or other matters relevant to articles published in EJEB.
All discussions must be conducted professionally and supported by appropriate academic reasoning or evidence.
2. Forms of Post-Publication Discussion
EJEB accommodates post-publication discussion through the following mechanisms:
Letters to the Editor: Readers may submit scholarly comments, questions, or critical observations concerning articles published in EJEB.
Author Responses: Authors may be invited to respond to substantive academic comments or questions regarding their published work.
Scholarly Correspondence: Researchers and readers may communicate relevant academic concerns to the editorial office for consideration.
Editorial Clarifications: The editorial team may publish clarifications or notices when necessary to address significant questions concerning published research.
Corrections and Other Editorial Notices: Concerns affecting the accuracy or integrity of published articles may be addressed through the journal's correction, expression of concern, or retraction procedures.
3. Submission of Comments and Scholarly Responses
Readers wishing to initiate a post-publication discussion may contact the EJEB editorial office through the official contact information provided on the journal's website.
Submissions should include:
-
The title, author names, and DOI or URL of the article being discussed.
-
A clear description of the academic question, comment, or concern.
-
Relevant scholarly arguments, supporting evidence, or references.
-
The sender's name, institutional affiliation where applicable, and contact information.
Submissions should focus on the scholarly content of the article rather than personal criticism of the authors.
4. Editorial Evaluation
The editorial team evaluates post-publication comments based on their academic relevance, clarity, supporting evidence, and adherence to scholarly communication standards.
Where appropriate, the editorial team may:
-
Request clarification or additional supporting information.
-
Invite the original authors to provide a response.
-
Seek independent academic assessment of substantive technical concerns.
-
Facilitate scholarly correspondence between relevant parties.
-
Consider publication of an editorial clarification or other appropriate notice.
The editorial team determines whether submitted correspondence is suitable for publication or requires another form of response.
5. Right of Reply
Authors whose published work is the subject of substantive academic criticism will normally be given an opportunity to respond.
Author responses should address the academic issues raised and provide relevant explanations or supporting evidence.
The editorial team may facilitate the publication of comments and responses when doing so contributes meaningfully to scholarly discussion.
6. Standards of Scholarly Conduct
All participants in post-publication discussion must maintain professional and ethical standards.
EJEB does not accept correspondence containing:
-
Personal attacks, harassment, or discriminatory statements.
-
Defamatory or unsupported allegations.
-
Deliberately misleading information.
-
Disclosure of confidential or private information without appropriate authorization.
-
Commercial promotion unrelated to scholarly discussion.
Academic disagreement is welcome when expressed respectfully and supported by reasoned argument.
7. Research Integrity Concerns
Post-publication comments that raise potential research misconduct, plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or other serious ethical concerns will be assessed under the journal's Allegation of Research Misconduct Policy.
The editorial team may request supporting documentation, seek clarification from the authors, or contact relevant institutions when necessary.
Research integrity concerns will not be treated solely as ordinary academic disagreements when the available evidence indicates possible misconduct.
8. Corrections, Expressions of Concern, and Retractions
When post-publication discussion identifies significant errors or concerns affecting the scholarly record, EJEB may take appropriate editorial action.
Depending on the circumstances, such action may include:
Correction: To address errors that can be corrected without invalidating the overall reliability of the article.
Expression of Concern: To inform readers of significant unresolved concerns regarding a published article.
Retraction: To address published findings that are unreliable or involve serious ethical violations warranting retraction.
Such actions will be managed in accordance with the journal's Correction and Retraction Policy and applicable publication ethics guidance.
9. Editorial Independence and Transparency
EJEB handles post-publication discussion independently and without preferential treatment.
Editorial decisions concerning scholarly comments and responses are based on academic relevance, evidentiary support, and publication ethics.
The journal seeks to ensure that substantive academic concerns receive appropriate consideration while protecting the integrity of scholarly communication.
10. Contact and Communication
Post-publication comments, questions, and scholarly correspondence may be directed to the EJEB editorial office through the journal's official contact page:
